Doesn't it feel great when you find the perfect outfit for a reasonable price? But wouldn't it feel even better when you get the perfect outfit with an 80% discount? The latest trends can cost you less than half of the retail price! All you need to do is visit a thrift store and search! If I haven't stressed it enough in my past posts, thrift shopping is worth every penny. And seeing how it won't cost too much, why not give it a try?
This leather red skirt was $3!
I remember being in my teens and staying in the car while my mom went into these stores. The idea of wearing used clothes and searching hanger by hanger uninterested me. Until one day I went in to rush my mom and bumped into a dress I had seen at Forever21, except that instead of buying it for $30 I got it for $2. That's when I became interested in stretching my buck and being creative with my wardrobe. Fashion becomes fun when you start buying things for such an inexpensive price! I got this hot pink skirt for $4 and this patent leather clutch was $4 too. I've been wanting a leather skirt for the longest time so finding this hot pink one was amazing!
Now every thrift store you'll go into is different. Some don't have as much vintage clothing as others. Some stores focus more on furniture than clothing and others have a mixture of both. Except for the shoes (ALDO), this outfit was purchased at a thrift store, the entire outfit was $9 with the purse and belt included. The blouse had some crazy ruffling so I cut it and the shorts were men jeans but I cut them and fringed the ends. In order to be a successful thrift shopper you need to be crafty and think outside the box. Think about cutting, sewing, tucking or stretching a garment when looking at it! Also online browsing before thrift shopping helps me stay on track on what I'm looking for. So if you're not sure what materials/patterns are trending look online for some inspo!
Some thrift stores have brand new never-been-worn items like these Lucky Brand boots I found for $8 and this Neiman Marcus loose fit sweater was $3. These two items alone at a retail store would of been WAY more than $11. Not every thrift store will have brand new items, others have really worn down garments too. Thrift shopping is only rewarding if you take the time to find your favorite shops and if you visit them frequently.
